Description
In Treffpunkt, the usual behavior of a mechanized skittle alley in a local pub in a small town (Laer, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) is transformed: 1,000 beer glasses are placed in the skittle lane, and beer mats placed beneath the pins render the mechanism inoperable. This causes the pins to continuously fall in varying numbers, shaking the glasses—a seemingly surreal game that unfolds without human participation or balls. As a result, the space designed for social interaction is abandoned, taking on a life of its own, illustrated by a captivating spectacle of numbers being counted. This intervention transformed the location into a more vibrant meeting point throughout the week, fostering encounters and discussions about what was seen and experienced in that situation.
