Description:

The publication was created in connection with an exhibition project of the same name in 2013 at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Budapest, in cooperation with the Hungarian National Film Archive. The exhibition explored both active leadership and guidance as well as being led and directed. It addressed influence and control—whether political, social, or individual.

Excerpts from the mediation text at the time:

"The year 1989 is not only considered a milestone in the political regime changes across numerous European countries but is also regarded by neoliberal currents as the end of ideologies—an assumption that ultimately reveals itself as an ideology in its own right. Artists engage in analyzing and conceptualizing the shifting power structures of the world. This often takes shape through visual and bodily gestures, models of reappropriation, redefinitions, and an insistence on those aspects that seem once again to be lost for a supposedly classless society."

Curated by Dorottya Csécsei und Nathalie Koger.
